OUR WORLD

What if you could
see the change?

THE QUESTION

A shift in attention.
A change in movement.
Something you might otherwise miss.

We’re exploring a way to bring those signals into the scene in front of you.

OBSERVE → INTERPRET → QUESTION

A sketch of the experience we have in mind. Annotations are illustrative, not readings of real people.

01

The idea is a change in perception.

You walk down a street. Someone turns toward you. Another person keeps looking over their shoulder. A conversation nearby changes pace. You already notice parts of this. NERVA asks what it would take to make the less obvious changes visible too.

We want behavioral information to appear within the scene itself, alongside the person it relates to. Direction of attention. Changes in movement. Possible tension. The form of the technology is still open; the experience is the starting point.

02

What we would look at.

Body movement gives us posture, direction, pace, and small fluctuations such as tremor. Visible eye and head movements provide clues about gaze. Facial activity contributes timing and expression. Where audio can be appropriately collected, pauses, pitch, and vocal rhythm add another channel.

The research question is whether changes across these channels tell us more together than separately. A hand moving once is an event. A repeatable pattern across time may be worth investigating. Neither comes with a ready-made explanation.

03

An observation is not a verdict.

We are interested in stress, possible intent, and how an interaction might develop. Those are difficult questions. Looking away does not establish a lie. Tension does not establish an intention to attack. A gaze direction cannot tell us what someone is thinking.

Any future estimate would need to show its uncertainty and be tested against independent evidence. The concept separates what is measured from what is inferred. Getting that distinction right is part of the work, not a footnote.

04

Where the project stands.

This is a research vision, not a working scanner. The figure on the home page uses generated motion, and the scene above is a conceptual sketch. Neither analyzes real people.

The next research questions are practical: which signals can be measured consistently, how recording conditions affect them, and which interpretations survive testing beyond the original experiment. Consent and privacy need to be addressed alongside those questions.

A COMMITMENT

Control stays
with the project.

NERVA is independent. We will never hand control of its mission, research, or development to outside interests. The decisions about where this project goes will remain ours.
